African-American Christmas: Boys Opening Presents
No lumps of coal for these boys this year! Kneeling in the snow by the wooden fence, the boys check out what Santa left in the hugh overflowing bag. Let's see, there are books, a toy train engine, and a plush teddy bear for starters. Being out of doors, the boys are dressed warmly: knit hats, bulky sweaters, vests, and thick scarfs tightly wound around their necks, and one wears a belted plaid coat with white shearling trim. The details are incredible.  For example, the back of one boy's vest not only has incised lines, dots and a zig-zag pattern to indicate the texture of the fabric, but tiny buttons. The superb skill in painting shows up in enhancements of elements in the intricate design and rich colors of reds, blues, greens,  and white with accents of gold.Facial expressions reflect the individual personality of each boy's reaction to the "Big Day." Furniture protectors included. Resin, imported. Collected prior to 2006.
