African-American Heritage Figurine: Teacher in Red Dress
Most striking is this teacher's flamboyant red ankle-length dress. By perching on the edge of the desk, her skirt bellows in voluminous swirls.  The vivid color is accented by narrow black trim around the neckline, sleeves and a belt in addition to a dramatic golden oversize beaded necklace.  Her shoes are also black, but the low heels tell you this teacher is not just about high style, she is also practical.  She plans to be on her feet alot.  Her short straight hair is swept behind one ear to reveal a well-modeled intelligent face with understated make-up.  The 'old school' picture is completed by a sturdy chair and a two-pedestal desk with four drawers and two doors with 'brass' bin pulls. On the desk are classic symbols:  a stack of books, a large red apple and another stack of graded 'A' student papers soon to be joined by the one in her hand.  Polyresin, imported, ca 2005.
